theMiddletonCorpus

Anthony was born in Pontefract in West Yorkshire. Before his more ‘formal’ dance training, Anthony trained and competed as an acrobatic gymnast both nationally and internationally.

At the age of 17, I had seen enough of gymnastics, I was bored of the lack of artistry in it and I was eager to pursue something that challenged my body and my creativity differently. So, after stumbling across a few dance performances by professional companies, I decided to begin training in contemporary dance.

Anthony went on to train at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds, graduating in 2010. Since then he has began working professionally as a dancer, currently working with ‘Balletboyz,’ dancing works by Russell Maliphant, Paul Roberts, Jarek Cemerek and Freddie Opoku-Addaie.

In addition to his dancing, Anthony has also developed a highly individual approach to movement, and is constantly working to develop his own movement vocabulary. He has held workshops through Colleges and Youth Dance Companies in his local region.

Now, working with this specific movement language, Anthony has been commissioned by local youth companies to create work, and has also begun creating work under his own company title of ‘theMiddletonCorpus’.
